Critics' Choice TV Awards 2015: 'Americans' Is Best Drama, 'Better Call Saul' Wins Big

'The Americans' wins the coveted prize over other hit shows like 'Empire' and 'The Good Wife', but 'Better Call Saul', 'Transparent' and 'Olive Kitteridge' lead in terms of number.

AceShowbiz - The winners of the 5th annual Critics' Choice TV Awards were announced at the Sunday, May 31 ceremony taking place at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Grabbing the coveted prize of Best Drama Series was FX's "The Americans". The spy thriller beat out strong contenders including, "Empire", "Game of Thrones", "The Good Wife", "Homeland", "Justified" and "Orange Is the New Black".

Though so, "Empire" and "Justified" didn't come home empty handed. %cTaraji P. Henson%, star of the FOX hit drama, won Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Cookie. The recently concluded FX series, "Justified", also brought home one prize in category Best Guest Performer in a Drama Series for %cSam Elliott%.

Leading the nominations along with "Justified" with five nods, "Olive Kitteridge" got the most awards at the Sunday ceremony. The HBO show was dubbed the Best Limited Series and helped its lead actress %cFrances McDormand% win the Best Actress in a Movie or Limited Series title. The show won another gong for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie or Limited Series that went to %cBill Murray%.

Also taking home multiple prizes were "Better Call Saul" and "Transparent", with two each. The former won Best Actor in a Drama Series for %cBob Odenkirk% and Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for %cJonathan Banks%. The latter, meanwhile, grabbed Best Actor in a Comedy Series for %cJeffrey Tambor% and Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series for %cBradley Whitford%.

Best Comedy Series went to "Silicon Valley" (HBO). Accepting the prize with his mouth full of macaroons, actor %cT.J. Miller% said, "I thought I was going to lose, so I ate a lot."

%cAmy Schumer%, star of Comedy Central's "Inside Amy Schumer", was deemed Best Actress in a Comedy Series, while %cDavid Oyelowo% ("Nightingale") won Best Actor in a Movie or Limited Series.

%cAllison Janney% won Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role on CBS' "Mom". Receiving the prize from "Late Late Show" host %cJames Corden%, she landed a big kiss on the presenter's lips onstage.

The awards show was hosted by %cCat Deeley%, who won Best Reality Series Host for her stint on "So You Think You Can Dance".
