Murray leads a crowd chant in an effort to keep Letterman on the air, while Kimmel takes to his own show to recall how Letterman had inspired him.

AceShowbiz - Bill Murray made an unforgettable entrance on "Late Show with David Letterman" Tuesday, May 19. Stopping by the show before David Letterman's departure on May 20, Murray made it extra special by popping out of a gigantic cake. He came out covered in frosting and hugged Letterman, rubbing the icing on the host's hair before wiping icing on some audience members.

Murray and Letterman then had a chat still with their messy looks. He tried to convince Letterman to stay on the show, leading the crowd to chant, "More! More!" He even went out of the studio to gain support from pedestrians.

Over at ABC, Jimmy Kimmel bid farewell to Letterman on his own show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". He got emotional as he recalled how the veteran host had inspired him during his childhood and his teenage years. He even urged his audience to watch Letterman's farewell episode instead of his own show on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon took to "The Tonight Show" to pay tribute to the veteran comedian. The "Saturday Night Live" alum said as one of kids who grew up watching Letterman, he would miss him. He also shared his teacher's prediction that Fallon would replace Letterman on "The Late Night" show which did come true in 2009.
