Shortly after announcing he canceled his Australian tour, the 'Stay With Me' hitmaker says that the affected dates will all take place in December.

AceShowbiz - Sam Smith is forced to cancel the remaining dates in the Australian leg of his tour due to a hemorrhage on his vocal chords. The British singer announced the cancellation and apologized to fans in a statement posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday, April 28.

"I am deeply, deeply saddened to tell my Australian fans, I have to cancel my Australian tour," he wrote. "I have been vocally exhausted for a while now however last night in Sydney I had a small hemorrhage on my vocal chords."

He continued that he made the decision on doctor's orders to prevent his condition from getting worse. "The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed otherwise this could become a long-term issue," he explained. "I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am."

On the same day, Smith said in another Instagram post that the canceled dates had all been rescheduled for December. "I love you all and I am so sorry x please keep your eye on my Facebook/Twitter/Instagram for re arranged December dates x," he wrote.

Smith already played one Australian show in Sydney on Monday. He was supposed to perform another gig there on Tuesday before visiting other Australian cities. His illness has also stopped him from appearing at the country's Logie Awards next Sunday.
