Hamm's representative spoke out to rebuff split rumors that recently hit the couple and said that 'public's understanding and sensitivity' were highly expected.

AceShowbiz - Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt have shot down split rumors. In a statement released on Wednesday, April 8, the "Mad Men" star's representative denied reports that the couple had split after years together.

The rumor which appeared in In Touch magazine sparked just after Hamm completed 30-day treatment to overcome his alcohol addiction earlier this year. The report claimed that the relationship between the two ended shortly before Hamm started his treatment in February. It further claimed that the split was prompted by the uncertainty of their relationship in the future.

"The story that appeared in this week's edition of In Touch magazine is not true," the representative said in the statement. "The only gentleman Jennifer visited regularly in Connecticut was Jon, while he was in rehab. They continue to ask for the public's understanding and sensitivity during this challenging time."

Hamm has been dating his longtime girlfriend for approximately 16 years. He admitted that during his rehab stint in Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut, his family and friends had been very supportive.

"Life throws a lot at you sometimes, and you have to deal with it as much as you can," so he said. "I've been very fortunate that throughout the most recent 24-hour period, I've had a lot of family and friends support me."

It was also reported that the presence and support from Westfeldt during the medication were crucial for Hamm and were very helpful to "keep him in line."

"He needs [Jennifer]," a source said of the stability the actress brought. "He has to have that in his life."
