The daughter of the lead singer-guitarist of the band Nirvana opened up about 'Montage of Heck' and her complicated relationship with Courtney Love in an interview.

AceShowbiz - Frances Bean Cobain shared publicly for the first time all story about her father Kurt Cobain in an interview to mark the 21st anniversary of his death. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the daughter of Nirvana's singer-guitarist also opened up about her complex relationship with her mother Courtney Love.

"For 20 years, my dad has been like Santa Claus, this mythical figure," the 22-year-old visual artist told the magazine. "People come up to me and say, 'Your dad's so cool.' And I don't know him."

Later in the interview she also talked about her opinion about the documentary based on the famous singer's life, "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck". In the movie, she took a role as executive producer as an attempt to get to know more about her father.

"It paints a portrait of a man attempting to cope with being a human," she said of the documentary. "I was very specific about what I wanted to see, how I wanted Kurt to be represented. I told him [writer/director Brett Morgen], 'I don't want the mythology of Kurt or the romanticism.' "

Frances continued sharing, "Even though Kurt died in the most horrific way possible, there is this mythology and romanticism that surrounds him, because he's 27 forever."

Frances, who admitted that she wasn't a Nirvana fan, shared her own assessment on why her father committed suicide at a very young age.

"Kurt got to the point where he eventually had to sacrifice every bit of who he was to his art, because the world demanded it of him," she claimed. "I think that was one of the main triggers as to why he felt he didn't want to be here and everyone would be happier without him."

She added, "In reality, if he had lived, I would have had a dad. And that would have been an incredible experience."

At one point in the interview, she admitted that she had a complicated relationship with her mother Courtney. However, the two got closer again recently.

"My mother held me, cried on me and just said, 'I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry...' Just kept saying it over and over," Frances recalled her experience of watching the documentary with Courtney for the first time. "But then she said, 'Do you realize how much your father loved you?' And I said, 'Yeah, I do.' "
