Disney Develops Live-Action Remake of 'Pinocchio'
Movie

The Mouse House hires Peter Hedges to write a script for the new take on a wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy.

AceShowbiz - "Pinocchio (2017)" joins the growing list of Disney's live-action adaptation projects that include "Alice in Wonderland", "Maleficent", and "Cinderella". The classic children's tale revolves around a wooden puppet and his maker Geppetto.

Deadline reports that Peter Hedges ("The Odd Life of Timothy Green") is hired to pen a script loosely based on the original story which follows the puppet whose nose grows when he tells a lie as he goes on a quest to become a real boy.

Disney's other remakes include "The Jungle Book", "Beauty and the Beast (2017)", "Dumbo", "Pete's Dragon", "Mulan", "Winnie the Pooh (2017)", and "Through the Looking Glass".

The Mouse House is not the only one reviving Pinocchio though. Guillermo del Toro has been developing a stop-motion feature based on the beloved story for several years now. Robert Downey Jr. and his wife are also working on a similar project.

In the meantime, a reference to the puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy can be found on "Avengers: Age of Ultron" when it arrives in U.S. theaters on May 1. Ultron quotes Pinocchio song "I've Got No Strings" as he goes rogue.
