Police are investigating a New Jersey man's report that rapper DMX and his entourage robbed him of $3,200 at a Newark gas station on early Sunday morning.

AceShowbiz - A man from New Jersey is accusing rapper DMX and his entourage of robbing him at a Newark gas station on Easter morning, April 5. The victim told police that they stole $3,200 in cash before taking off.

The 21-year-old man told Newark police spokesman Ronald Glover that the problem with DMX began when he recognized the rap star at an Exxon filling station on Highway 21 and the two began to have brief conversation about music. During the conversation, a member of DMX's entourage showed the victim a gun and demanded his money.

After the Newark resident pulled out money from his pocket, DMX reportedly grabbed it and got into one of four black Cadillac Escalades. The victim was able to follow the caravan close enough to get the license plate number for one of the vehicles. However, no one had been sent to jail in the ongoing investigation, the police said.

Prior to the robbing case, DMX whose real name is Earl Simon has dealt with several legal issues. In 2013, he was arrested four times in South Carolina for charges such as possession of marijuana, driving without a valid license and driving under the influence. In addition to those charges, DMX was arrested for charges such as animal cruelty in 1999, swearing during his performance in 2003 and trying to steal a car in 2004.

DMX who recently made a comical appearance as a jailbird in Chris Rock's film "Top Five" was scheduled to be in Newark on Saturday night for a concert with several other rappers at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.
