AceShowbiz - Nominations for the 42nd annual Daytime Emmy Awards have been announced. Continuing its domination, CBS leads the pack with a total of 62 nods. PBS trails with 50 noms, followed by ABC with 35, NBC with 20 and Nickelodeon with 18.
Show-wise, "General Hospital" tops other daytime series with 28 nominations. It eyes the coveted Outstanding Drama series title, up against last year's winner "The Young and the Restless" and other strong contenders including "The Bold and the Beautiful" and "Days of Our Lives".
Additionally, "General Hospital" stars Maura West and Laura Wright are pitted against each other for the Lead Actress award. Other nominees in the category include Peggy McKay ("Days of Our Lives"), Alison Sweeney ("Days of Our Lives") and Gina Tognoni ("The Young and the Restless").
Lead Actor category sees a competition between "General Hospital" star Anthony Geary and Jason Thompson as well as Christian LeBlanc and Billy Miller of "The Young and the Restless".
"The Bold and the Beautiful" also scores multiple nominations, with a total of 19, while "Days of Our Lives" earns a total of 16 nods.
Leading in talk show field is "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" with 10 nods. It is up for the Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment prize. "Family Feud", "Jeopardy!" and "The Price Is Right", meanwhile, are nominated for Outstanding Game Show.
The 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards will be held Sunday, April 26 on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank and air live on Pop starting at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT. Alex Trebek and Florence Henderson are going to host the event. The Daytime Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony is set for April 24 at the Universal Hilton.
