In an interview during a rehearsal for Kids' Choice Awards, the former Jonas Brothers member says he can relate to Zayn and 'totally' understands his decision to leave the group.

AceShowbiz - Nick Jonas showed support for Zayn Malik after the British hunk announced his departure from One Direction. Nick, who was a part of another popular boyband Jonas Brothers that disbanded in 2013, said in a new interview with ET that he could relate to Zayn.

"It's a lot of pressure. I think that my situation was really unique, I had family with me," Nick told the site during a rehearsal for this Saturday's Kids' Choice Awards. "I feel like it is a tough world already, and I was thankful to have family and walk through it with them."

"But it's all about how you balance it, and trying to implement a few moments of normalcy and quietness in a really crazy ride," he continued. "I feel for the fans, and totally understand fame as well and what he's going through, but all the best to all of them."

The Jonas Brothers, which Nick formed with his big bros Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas, split in October 2013 after canceling a string of tour dates. Nick later launched his solo career and released his self-titled album in 2014.

Meanwhile, Zayn first left One Direction's ongoing tour last week before announcing his departure on Wednesday, March 25. "After five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight," the 22-year-old heartthrob explained in a statement.

Following Zayn's exit, One Direction will continue as a four-piece. In a new message posted by Liam Payne on TwitLonger, he assured fans that they're "far from over."

"It's sad to think for the time being we won't grace the stage as five bros or have the same fun on a tour bus or laughs in a hotel together that we have over the years but I'm super sure us and zayn will always remain the closest friends," he wrote. "I guess what I'm really trying to say is it's far from over."

"When we very 1st became successful we all agreed that one direction had become much bigger than each individual member that's why I feel like right now it's ok to be sad and upset but I do ask everyone who is a fan of us to please keep ur faith in us I'm sure there's a lot more to come," he added.
