Brandy to Make Broadway Debut in 'Chicago'

The 'Boy Is Mine' hitmaker is set to play Roxie Hart at a New York theater starting April 28, marking her first foray into Broadway.

AceShowbiz - Brandy Norwood is heading to The Great White Way. The Grammy winner is set to play sexy murderess Roxie Hart in a Broadway production of "Chicago" which opens for a limited eight-week run at the Ambassador Theatre, New York starting April 28.

Brandy will take over the role from country singer Jennifer Nettles who is about to finish her two-month engagement. Before the Sugarland vocalist, Hart was played by the likes of Melanie Griffith, Brooke Shields, Christie Brinkley, Ashlee Simpson, and Destiny's Child's Michelle Williams (II).

Brandy, now 36, started her recording career at 14. She ruled the charts with singles like "I Wanna Be Down" & "The Boy Is Mine". She played the title character on the sitcom "Moesha" from 1996 to 2001 and made history as the first black Cinderella in a 1997 Disney TV film where she shared screen with the late Whitney Houston.
