Kendrick Lamar Sets New Global Record on Spotify With 'To Pimp a Butterfly' Album

The CEO of Lamar's label Top Dawg Entertainment has expressed his excitement on Twitter. " 'To Pimp a Butterfly' was streamed 9.6m times on the 1st day. new global record 4 the most streams in a single day worldwide by a new release," he wrote.

According to Billboard, the same-day global record was previously held by %cMichael Buble% with his "Christmas" set. The site additionally reported that with his new effort, Lamar earned about $44,160 in a single day globally.

"To Pimp a Butterfly" was originally slated to be released on March 23. The record, which also includes the Grammy-winning single "i", received rave reviews from music critics as well as from fellow big names in music.
