AceShowbiz - Nicholas Brendon has broken his silence on his recent arrests in a Skype interview with TMZ. The former "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" star says a sexual abuse he experienced when he was a kid triggered depression which led to his recent arrests.

"I've been battling a lot of depression through all my life and I've been handling it the wrong way," Nicholas says, "I'm a survivor of sexual abuse when I was a kid. It's just something you're embarrassed of and I've never really talked about it."

The "Criminal Minds" star further explains, "When the depression comes, you just kind of try to block it out any way you possibly can and there's a better way of doing it and first of all for me I just really need to start talking about it."

Nicholas says his family knew about his sexual abuse and the molester had been sent to jail. "The man who molested me went to jail when I was a kid for about five years. I've never really wrapped my mind around that... I think it's time for me to start dealing with the symptoms of it and stop being, well, a jerk about it."

"I've been to rehab before and I get sober for a long periods of time and then this depression sets in and I don't talk to anybody about it," he adds, "Cause I don't want to complain, it's embarrassing, it's really embarrassing thing to talk about and it's time to stop thinking that it's embarrassing. Cause my actions are more than embarrassing."

Nicholas has been arrested for three times in the past six months. Most recently, he was taken into custody in Florida on Friday, March 13 after creating disturbance at the hotel he was staying while in town for the ALTCon geek convention. The 43-year-old actor was charged with damage to property and criminal mischief and was released after posting $1,000 bail on Saturday.
