Jermaine Dupri believes Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams' single is indeed similar to Marvin Gaye's song and opens up on the similar situation he is currently in.

AceShowbiz - Jermaine Dupri shares his thoughts on "Blurred Lines" lawsuit that pitted Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams against Marvin Gaye's family. He believes the 2013 hit single does sound similar to Gaye's "Got to Give It Up".
"My first time hearing it, I was like, this might be a problem. I kind of felt like that," the producer tells The Associated Press. "Them going to court was really more shocking than anything."
But he can understand both sides of the lawsuit. "Younger producers like myself and Pharrell, we make records that are influenced by other records that are out there. That's how hip hop has always been created," he explains.
"That's how hip-hop has always been created - it always has some kind of element of something from the past. Sometimes we just take the entire sample and we give the artist the credit for that sample."
While discussing copyright infringement issue, Dupri reveals that he is currently dealing with similar problem. "Ciara's new single is a complete rip-off of Usher's 'U Got It Bad'. I'm clear on what I made and I'm clear on how music influences people, and I'm clear on chord changes and how people move things," he claims.
According to Dupri, another Ciara song "I Bet" also sounds like Tamia's "Still" which he produced. He has reached out to Ciara and her camp regarding the matter.
