'Parks and Recreation' Finale Offers Glimpses at the Future

AceShowbiz - After seven seasons, "Parks and Recreation" aired the series' final episode on Tuesday, February 24. Airing on NBC, the finale showed what happened to the beloved characters of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, such as Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope, Nick Offerman's Ron Swanson, Aubrey Plaza's April Ludgate, Chris Pratt's Andy Dwyer and Aziz Ansari's Tom Haveford in the future.

The finale sees a man coming to the Parks Department to repair a broken swing, prompting Leslie to come to her officemates to ask for help. Glimpses at the character's future, from 2019 to 2048, are seen.

In the future, Leslie and Ben have successful careers in politics. She runs for governor of Indiana and in the year of 2035 is seen receiving an honor from Indiana University. There is also a funeral scene showing the pair at a funeral and being surrounded by secret service.

In 2022, April and Andy finally have a baby. She gives birth on Halloween while wearing horrendous makeup and their first child is named Burt Snakehole Ludgate Karate Dracula Macklin Demon Jack-o-Lantern Dwyer or Jack for short.

Tom at first has financial difficulties with his business, but he did not give up. He eventually becomes a bestseller author with "Failure: An American Success Story".

Craig, meanwhile, is seen singing at Tom's Bistro where he eventually meets his future husband Typhoon. The pair are together until they are old. Ron retires from his job at Very Good Building and Development Company and becomes a superintendent at the Pawnee National Park. Donna starts a foundation called "Teach Yo Self" which focuses on after-school programs.

Garry dies after his 100th birthday party with Gayle by his side. Jean-Ralphio fakes his own death and uses the insurance money to start a casino business in Tajikistan with Mona Lisa.

Many fans took to social media to express their thoughts following the season's end. Many of them are feeling sad because they are losing a strong role model like Leslie. "Thanks for your inspiration that women can do cool thing and being a positive role model," a fan tweeted.

Another fan wrote, "Will miss the weekly motivation from Leslie Knope, but will live each day fueling that same drive within myself." A fan added, "Leslie Knope taught me that everyone has a passion, and everyone's passion is worth fighting for."
