Mexican Actress Lorena Rojas Dies of Cancer

The 44-year-old soap opera actress passed away on Monday, February 16 after battling cancer for 7 years.

AceShowbiz - Lorena Rojas, the Mexican actress who played on some popular soap operas like "El Cuerpo del Deseo", "Pecados Ajenos" and "Alcanzar Una Estrella", died on Monday, February 16 at her house in Miami after seven-year battle with cancer. She was 44.

Her publicist Conchita Oliva told New York Times that Lorena passed away of metastatic cancer. The actress was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008 and last year she was told that it had spread to her liver. According to Latin WE, Lorena was surrounded by her family, her boyfriend and her closest friends.

Lorena, who was born on February 10, 1971, began her career as a telenovela star in 1990 with a supporting role on "Alcanzar Una Estrella". In the following year, she recorded the sequel of the series which also starred Ricky Martin.

She then starred as the main protagonist on some telenovelas including "Como En El Cine", "El Cuerpo del Deseo", "Pecados Ajenos", "Rosario" and most recently "Demente Criminal".

Lorena, who was an advocate for cancer education in Latino communities, is survived by her mother, her actress sister Mayra Rojas, her boyfriend Jorge Monje and her daughter Luciana Rojas.
