Spider-Man Reportedly to Go Back to High School in New Movie

According to a new report, a much younger actor is sought to star in the new 'Spider-Man' movie which is set in high school.

AceShowbiz - The partnership between Sony and Marvel was officially announced on Monday night, February 9. In the wake of the news, Andrew Garfield allegedly is out as Spidey and will be replaced by a much younger actor. A Tuesday report from Variety additionally suggests that the movie, which is scheduled to arrive in 2017, will be set in high school.

Dylan O'Brien ("The Maze Runner", "Teen Wolf") and Logan Lerman ("Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters", "Fury") are linked to the role. The movie, however, will first find a director to replace Marc Webb who previously worked in "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" before casting the new web slinger. Sony still needs to figure out whether they will continue with Peter Parker or Miles Morales who receives much support on social media.

Following the Marvel-Sony deal, Spider-Man will first appear in Marvel Cinematic Universe, possibly "Captain America: Civil War", before getting his own untitled new Spider-Man movie. "The Sinister Six" movie featuring Spider-Man villains reportedly is now delayed, while "Venom Carnage" and a movie which centers on female heroes in "Spider-Man", tentatively titled "Glass Ceiling", will still continue. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is involved in the upcoming "Spider-Man" movies, but reportedly will not have a say in regards to creative direction in the spin-offs.

"Captain America: Civil War" is set for release in the U.S. on May 6, 2016 starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Chadwick Boseman who will make his big screen debut as the Black Panther. The untitled new Spider-Man movie will arrive on July 28, 2017.
