A representative for the 'Interstellar' actor has insisted that he is not the owner of a 'canned hunting' ranch in Texas.

AceShowbiz - Matthew McConaughey landed in hot water after he was allegedly named as the co-founder of a "canned hunting" ranch in Texas. However, his representative has set the record straight, telling Mail Online, "Matthew McConaughey has no ownership in this ranch. Get your facts straight."

The representative says the ranch is owned by Matthew's brother Mike and the actor's nephew Madison is the ranch's cattle manager. The star of "The Wolf of Wall Street" didn't own the ranch since he sold his share in 2011.

Reports about Matthew owning the "canned hunting" ranch emerged on Wednesday, February 4 after animal activists targeted the actor and created a petition against him to "rescind ownership of the ranch." The petition reportedly quickly gained 3,500 signatures after it was posted on YouSignAnimals.org.

Earlier on the day, TMZ reported that Matthew's "side business [is] letting people onto his property to hunt caged-in animals, and it has enraged animal rights activists." Madison told the site, "My Uncle Matthew, the hunting part is part of the ranch, but he is more with the cattle. That's where his passion is."

Madison also said that they received death threats from people who were against them. "People are disgusted with us but we're disgusted with them," he said.
