Director Byran Singer shares the news in a tweet, saying that the 'Game of Thrones' star will play young Jean Grey, while Sheridan and Shipp are cast as Cyclops and Storm respectively.

AceShowbiz - Sophie Turner ("Game of Thrones"), Tye Sheridan ("Mud") and Alexandra Shipp ("Aaliyah: Princess of R&B") are officially joining "X-Men: Apocalypse" as the young version of Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm respectively. The exciting announcement was made by director Bryan Singer on Thursday, January 22. "Meet our new and brilliant young mutants: @Alexshipppp as #Storm @SophieT as #JeanGrey and @TyeSheridan as #Cyclops. #XmenApocalypse," he tweeted.

Famke Janssen originally portrayed the telekinetic mutant to be played by the Sansa Stark of "Game of Thrones", while James Marsden played Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops. Halle Berry played Storm, who can control the weather with her power, in the previous installments.

The follow-up to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" will be set in the 1980s. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender will reprise their respective roles as Professor Xavier and Magneto. Oscar Isaac is playing the titular powerful villain who was teased at the end of "Days of Future Past".

Speaking to Tom Butler of Yahoo! Movies, Isaac shared some info about his character's costume, saying that it would be partially CGI. "It'll be a mix [of practical and digital]. I haven't had a script so I haven't had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it'll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology," he said.

The actor who previously confirmed that his villainous character would be able to change molecules in his body also shared that the pre-production already started. "After we finish here I'm heading to do a head cast [for 'X-Men: Apocalypse'], which they do often. You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun," he told Butler.
