AceShowbiz - The remaining contestants as well as two comeback contestants on "The Biggest Loser" season 16 got makeovers in the latest episode aired on Thursday, January 8. Former NFL quarterback Scott Mitchell, who has been at Comeback Canyon for several weeks, reunited with his family for the first time since joining the competition and the result was tearfully sweet.
Scott, who started at 366, has shed 124 pounds to 242 lbs. %cTim Gunn% appeared to help the contestants dress up, including choosing a suit for Scott. The 47-year-old former pro athlete also got a new haircut.
He stunned his wife Wendy and two of his five kids with his slimmed-down look. "I miss him so much," said his son Zach. "I'm just so proud of him and what he's accomplished so far." His wife also gushed, "It was a person that I remember 14 years ago."
Scott, who gained 15 to 20 pounds each offseason during his NFL career, slowly put on weight after he retired in 2001. He admitted that he struggled emotionally on the show. He recalled a morning hike when "I just lost it - I sat down on the trail and sobbed uncontrollably, about how in my life I was focusing on the things that brought me pain and sorrow, and how that was a big part of why I gained weight. I wanted to quit. I didn't want to deal with it."
"I realized I had shut myself off emotionally, and when I opened myself up, there was a lot more to me than I was giving myself credit for. I told myself, 'You're a great guy, Scott, and you have a great life.' " Calling it "the hardest damn thing I've done in my life," he still thinks the experience is "beautiful, wonderful, lifesaving."
Scott is facing up against Howard "Woody" Carter to get back to the ranch, but the result has not been known yet. No one was sent home in the episode and a twist will be explained next week.
