The 'Hobbit' actor is revealed to have filed paperwork in Dereham, Norfolk to marry his much-younger partner sometime this year.

AceShowbiz - Stephen Fry is set to tie the knot with partner Elliott Spencer, who is 30 years his junior. The couple gave notice to marry at a register office in Dereham, Norfolk, near where Fry grew up. The actor confirms the marriage plan shortly after The Sun broke the news.

"Oh. It looks as though a certain cat is out of a certain bag. I'm very very happy of course but had hoped for a private wedding. Fat chance!" the 57-year-old British star tweeted. "Thank you all SO much for your kind congratulations. Deeply touched xxx."

The paperwork was filed on December 23 just before Christmas. Spencer, 27, is listed as a writer. Their plan to get hitched came after same-sex marriage became legal in England and Wales in March 2014. No wedding date has been set due to "a busy work schedule," but reporters have flocked to his residence since the news broke out.

When stepping out later that day, they were spotted sporting matching engagement rings. "We are off now to celebrate our engagement. We won't be going abroad until after the Baftas," Fry said to the reporters outside his house. He is scheduled to host the awards event next month.

"Couple of journos parked outside my place. Wonder what I should do? Have said 'nothing to say thanks' but they're still there. Hmmm," he wrote on Twitter. "Some good suggestions as to what to do with my door-stepping journos. Everything from sandwiches to Rottweilers. Maybe coffee is the answer." He later added, "Grrr. Number of journos outside has now doubled. They obviously heard about the free coffee. Perhaps that was a mistake!"

Fry has starred in movies like "The Hobbit" and appeared on TV shows such as "Bones" and "24: Live Another Day". He got a Golden Globe nomination for his role in the film "Wilde" and won an Emmy for a documentary series about his struggle with manic depression. He also worked on a documentary about homophobia around the world.

Fry and Spencer were first seen together in November 2013, and they supposedly became serious over the summer. The actor previously dated Daniel Cohen but they split in 2010 after being together for more than a decade. In 2012, he tried to kill himself with "a huge number of pills and a huge (amount) of vodka."
