It was like a bolt from the blue when news broke out that Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment on Sunday, February 2 at 46 years old. Toxicology tests later revealed that lethal mix of drugs was found in his body upon his death. The awards-winning actor, who had had history with drug addictions, was still shooting "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay" at the time of his passing and left several other projects in the bubble with his sudden passing. He was remembered by his family and friends at a private service at St. Ignatius of Loyola church in Manhattan a few days later. He left behind his longtime partner Mimi O'Donnell and their three children.

MARCH

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin might not be a perfect couple, but they had remained strong amid all marital issues that hit them for 10 years. Hence, it was unfortunate that they eventually decided to separate. The Pepper Potts of "Iron Man" and the Coldplay frontman announced it in a blog post on March 25 under the title "Conscious Uncoupling". It was followed by rumors that both were cheating on each other, but they denied it. In fact, the parents to 10-year-old Apple and 8-year-old Moses remain close and have been seen together on some occasions since their split.
