Jill announced her pregnancy in the August issue of PEOPLE magazine eight weeks after getting married to Derick. In early September, Jill opened up to ABC News about her morning sickness and pregnancy cravings. She said she was doted by her husband since pregnant and he always carried around a "pregnancy bag" which is filled with her favorite foods.

Jill wanted to have a natural birth at home with the help of a mid-wife. "I feel like it will be way more relaxing... and having the baby at home with a midwife provides more of that personal care," she shared at that time, "It's more intimate for the couple as well, getting to be in your own environment."
