'Terminator Genisys' Star Jai Courtney Up for Deadshot Role in 'Suicide Squad'

AceShowbiz - Another actor is added to the casting mix of Warner Bros.' hotly-anticipated film "Suicide Squad". Variety learns that Jai Courtney who is cast as Kyle Reese in "Terminator Genisys" is in contention to portray Batman's villain, Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot the lethal assassin, in the upcoming adaptation of DC antihero comic book.

Tom Hardy, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie are also in various stages of discussions for the project. Hardy is circling the role of Rick Flag, a founding member of the Suicide Squad, Smith is reportedly eying to play The Flash's nemesis Digger Harkness or Captain Boomerang, and Robbie is expected to star as Harley Quinn from Batman comics.

Another villainous character from the Caped Crusader's graphic novel that will join the ensemble is The Joker. Jared Leto is targeting the iconic role most recently played by the late Heath Ledger in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight". Superman's mortal foe Lex Luthor who will be portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is among the rumored lineup as well.

The story revolves around a group of convicted villains in DC Comics Universe who were given a second chance for redemption. Employed by the government, they are sent on high-risk black ops missions which likely end up killing them all. David Ayer ("Fury") is tapped to helm the pic. It is due August 5, 2016.
