The Alan Turing of 'The Imitation Game' and his new fiancee break the news in a simple notice on the page 57 of a U.K. magazine.

AceShowbiz - Benedict Cumberbatch is set to marry his longtime girlfriend Sophie Hunter. The British actor, 38, and the theater director, 36, announce their engagement in a small notice published on the page 57 of U.K. magazine The Times of London.

"The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katherine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London," the announcement reads.

A representative for the "Star Trek Into Darkness" actor additionally confirms the star's betrothal in a statement, "I am delighted to confirm this morning's announcement that Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are engaged."

The couple met on the set of Charles Darwin movie "Burlesque Fairytales" in 2009. They kept their relationship low-key, avoiding to being pictured together. One of their rare public appearances together was at the French Open in June.

Cumberbatch is known for his role as Sherlock Holmes on BBC's series "Sherlock". On the big screen, he has voiced dragon Smaug in "The Hobbit" series, played WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in "The Fifth Estate", and computer scientist Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game".
