The 'Single Ladies' singer announces the collaboration with Topshop in a statement, saying, 'I'm looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.'

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles and British apparel brand Topshop are teaming up for an athletic wear brand. The two's Parkwood TopShop Athletic Ltd will produce clothing, footwear and accessories for dance, fitness and sports to be sold in Topshop stores and site starting from next fall.

"I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking. Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion led collection is exciting and I'm looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership," the "Crazy in Love" hitmaker said of the 50/50 joint venture.

Topshop's owner Sir Philip Green also expressed his excitement. "We have been looking at this category as fashion-inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers' heartland. Creating a partnership with Beyonce, one of the most hardworking and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category," he stated.

Green shared more of the project in an interview with WWD on Sunday, saying that he and the singer started talking about the new brand during a meeting in London in February. The talk continued in June. Then, on Friday, "Beyonce came to our office for the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle."

"This not a collaboration. This is about building a brand and building a business - a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office," he explained.
