The 'Lone Survivor' star will be the third actor announced as one of the central characters in the eight-episode arc.

AceShowbiz - The rumors that Taylor Kitsch will be on "True Detective" season 2 are true. The actor himself confirmed in an interview although HBO is yet to announce his deal.

"I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue," he told AdWeek. He previously appeared in 2013's "Lone Survivor" and last worked on HBO's TV movie "The Normal Heart".

"It was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True," he went on. "It was just showing a lot of patience on my end and turning a lot of stuff down because I wanted to be a part of it. So I'm excited."

Kitsch is particularly a fan of the show. "I loved that first season of it so much," he said. "It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real."

Series creator Nic Pizzolato previously confirmed that the second season would be set in California with four leads. The eight-episode arc will center on three police officers who work with a career criminal as they attempt to work through a conspiracy that arose in the wake of a murder. Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell have been confirmed to play a career criminal and a compromised detective respectively. The fourth central character is yet announced but reportedly would be female.

The second season starts shooting next month for a premiere next summer.
