The director and screenwriter Katie Dippold will pen the script for a 'Ghostbusters' reboot that stars hilarious women.

AceShowbiz - Paul Feig confirmed that he's officially involved in the new "Ghostbusters" reboot. The director will be backed up by screenwriter Katie Dippold who wrote the script to his action comedy "The Heat". Together they will co-write the script for the all-new "Ghostbusters" installment.

At the same time, Feig also confirmed that the long-gestating project would be female-centric. "It's official," Feig tweeted on Wednesday, October 8. "I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."

Ivan Reitman, the director for the first two "Ghostbusters" films, was originally attached to direct the new film but he quit in March. Feig then came on board in August and suggested to have a reboot led by female ghostbusters. It is yet clear whether Sony will still move on with "Ghostbusters 3" which intended to bring back the original team, played by Dan Aykord, Bill Murray and the now-deceased Harold Ramis.

Feig is famous for directing female-led "Bridesmaids" and will reunite with Melissa McCarthy in another comedy titled "Spy". Dippold recently wrote the script to "The Heat" sequel.
