Kristen Stewart, Kate Winslet, Stephenie Meyer and Catherine Hardwicke will help select and mentor a few selected directors to helm the mini movies.

AceShowbiz - "Twilight" is making a comeback. Lionsgate, in conjunction with Facebook, announces an initiative called "The Storytellers - New Creative Voices of the Twilight Saga" which is a "multiphase contest" to choose at least five female directors to helm short movies based on the characters in the famous vampire romantic saga.

A group of female panelists will be involved in selecting and mentoring the filmmakers. The panel includes "Twilight" original star Kristen Stewart, author Stephenie Meyer, director Catherine Hardwicke, "Divergent" star Kate Winslet, "The Help" actress Octavia Spencer, "Frozen (2013)" writer Jennifer Lee, "Modern Family" star Julie Bowen and Women In Film's president Cathy Schulman.

The mini movies will be released exclusively on Facebook next year. Fans will be included in the development and the production of the individual projects via the social network and the crowdsourcing platform Tongal. They will also help determine the best short, with the winner receiving a cash price and career opportunities.

"The female voice is something that has become more and more important to me as I've worked in the film industry," said Meyer. "I'm honored to be working with Women In Film, Lionsgate and Facebook on a project dedicated to giving more women a chance to be heard creatively."

"We think Facebook is a great way for us to introduce the world of Twilight to a whole new audience while re-energizing existing fans," Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns told The New York Times. "This is the just the beginning - a template, if you will. You can probably guess what might be coming next."
