AceShowbiz - Nominees for this year's MuchMusic Video Awards have been announced. Canadian native Justin Bieber, Bajan singer Rihanna and British boyband One Direction are among the musicians who enter battles to win coveted prizes at the upcoming Canadian awards show.
Bieber is vying for International Video of the Year by a Canadian, thanks to his newly-premiered clip for single "Boyfriend". The teen is competing against Avril Lavigne ("Smile"), Drake ft. Riri ("Take Care"), Nickelback ("When We Stand Together") and Simple Plan ("Astronaut").
He's additionally listed in International Video of the Year - Artist through Chris Brown's "Next 2 You" where he serves as a featured guest. Other contenders in this category include Riri, Beyonce Knowles, Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, Lady GaGa and Nicki Minaj.
In the Group category for International Video of the Year, Harry Styles and his bandmates face stiff competition against Coldplay, The Wanted, Bad Meets Evil, LMFAO, Maroon 5 and Selena Gomez & The Scene.
Canadian rising star Carly Rae Jepsen scores two nods Video of the Year and Pop Video of the Year, thanks to her "Call Me Maybe" clip. In the former category, she faces off Drizzy, Down With Webster, Hedley and Marianas Trench.
2012 MuchMusic Video Awards will be held on June 17. Redfoo and SkyBlu are set to co-host the event, while Katy is scheduled to make a live performance.
