AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie's directorial debut "In the Land of Blood and Honey" is set to receive its first award. On Tuesday, December 13, the Producer Guild of America announced that the film will be honored with the prestigious Stanley Kramer Award.
The trophy will be handed out to Jolie, along with her producer partners Graham King, Tim Moore and Tim Headington, during the 23rd Annual Producers Guild of America Awards ceremony on January 21, 2012. The event will take place at the Beverly Hilton, California.
The Stanley Kramer Award was formed in 2002 to honor a motion picture, producer or other individual, whose achievement or contribution illuminates provocative social issues in an accessible and elevating fashion.
This year, Sean Penn became the first individual who received the prestigious award. Other previous recipients at the PGAs included such movies as "The Great Debaters, "An Inconvenient Truth", "Hotel Rwanda" and "Antwone Fisher".
As for Jolie's "In the Land of Blood and Honey", the movie follows a love story between a Muslim Bosniak woman Alja and a Christian Serbian soldier Danijel who meet during the Bosnian war. The drama will open in limited theaters in the U.S. on December 23.
