Michael Lohan, who was arrested and accused of domestic violation, has been released and has his charges modified to the misdemeanor of 'inflicting injury on a cohabitant'.

AceShowbiz - After he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend Kate Major, Michael Lohan, father of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, is released by police. The showbiz patriarch was charged with domestic violence, false imprisonment, and preventing the reporting of victimization, but police has reduced the charges to the misdemeanor of "inflicting injury on a cohabitant".
"He has been released and issued with a citation which summons him to appear in court at a later date," Lt. Ratto of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department explained. "There was no need for anyone to pay the bail because his charges were reduced. It is up to the detectives now. The victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment."
Back on March 21, Michael was reportedly enraged when Kate came into an apartment she used to share with him. Herald Sun reported 50-year-old Michael grabbed Kate and threw her across the room, which made her hit the bedpost by the shoulder. He also allegedly strangled Kate with a towel as she threatened him to call a police.
While Michael's ex-girlfriend Kate went to the department to report to officers about her "visible markings" of the accident, Michael was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, according to TMZ. He allegedly complained of chest pains.
However, on March 22 morning, Michael has been out of the hospital. Speaking to Radar Online, he accused Kate of lying. "I asked to press charges on her. Look, I'm the one who got cut, I'm the one that was bleeding!" so he said. "I'm going to press charges against Kate and I'm going to try to have her arrested before she leaves California."
"I have to see what's missing and have her charged with robbery," he went on ranting. "I want to also have her charged with assault with a deadly weapon, she cut me with something, domestic assault and trespassing."
"When my lawyer gets to court and proves that she lied then I'll be vindicated and then she'll be charged for false reports and I'll sue her civilly," Michael continued. He then claimed that Kate has set him up, saying "She belongs in an asylum...she's crazy...and I'm even crazier for falling for all her ploys and lies."
Meanwhile, Kate denied Michael's words. Speaking to the publication, she said, "I wish he'd shut up and go to jail. The heart issues get old and he's obviously strong enough to hit a woman but not a man. Everything he said is a lie or a vindictive threat. He lies to his family and myself."
