AceShowbiz - After almost five years of marriage, singer Ben Harper and actress Laura Dern have now ended their union. According to TMZ, the "In the Colors" singer filed for divorce from the "Little Fockers" actress on late Friday afternoon, October 8.
In the legal papers, Harper cited irreconcilable differences and is asking the judge to deny Dern spousal support. The 40-year-old singer claimed he and Dern separated back in January although people close to the pair said that they have been living together throughout the year and were still intimate as recently as last week.
Beside asking the judge to deny the spousal support, Harper is also seeking for joint legal and physical custody of their children, nine-year-old Ellery and five-year-old Jaya.
Ben Harper and Laura Dern tied the knot at a mansion formerly owned by actor Gregory Peck on December 23, 2005, after dating for five years. Before marrying Dern, Harper was previously married to Joanna with whom he has two kids, Charles Joseph and Harris.
