While the theme song for cartoon "The Simpsons" has gone iconic, Green Day will show how it sounds in their version for the big screen.

AceShowbiz - Punk trio Green Day gives only the best addition to "The Simpsons Movie". Apart from their cameo in the flick, they also contribute the rendition of the iconic theme song. Not only released in the usual CD single, the song will be available in three different formats - traditional CD single, digital download and a limited edition doughnut case version.

The first to be released is the CD single that will hit the stores on July 24 via Warner Bros. Records, three days before the movie's premiere in U.S. Fox Music will then takes its role as the distributor of the digital download by making the song available in its website and other outlets. The doughnut cases version meanwhile, will be taken over by Extreme Music that will supply the 25,000 cases in stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and Barnes & Noble.

For the latter, the idea comes from none other than the composer itself, Hans Zimmer. "Hans has a great relationship with Extreme Music," President of Extreme Music Robert Kraft said. "They are known for their creative packaging. The model of handing over a soundtrack or score to a traditional label and then hoping it does well is changing. This is a coordinated marketing effort of behalf of Extreme, the studio and Warner Bros. Records."
