this is a film as tidy, transparent and kid-friendly as a square of Jell-O salad, and so squishily eager-to-please that it doesn't engage with its religious themes so much as tuck them into song lyrics to hover in the narrative like grapes
the music is catchy, the story is cute, and the cast is simply incredible; "A Week Away" is a cute teen/tween movie with catchy songs that might lean a little bit too hard into the religious aspect - but that was too be expected
the faith themes are presented very lightly and the primary messages are universal; Families will enjoy the exuberance and old-fashioned fun of the cast, clearly having as much fun as the teens they are portraying
feel-good faith-based camp musical is clean and upbeat; This Christian teen musical looks to ride the High School Musical wave, but despite positive messages and fine performances, it's not likely to leave as lasting an impression
a good-hearted, deeply predictable summer camp-set musical; Thanks to some peppy songs and surprisingly solid performances mean that "A Week Way" is good enough anyone with a "High School Musical"-sized hole in their entertainment consumption
"A Week Away" is hardly fronting anything special; In some films, the story is not great, but the music is good -- "A Week Away" does not inspire either
