visually delightful but ultimately disappointing biopic; The film lurches from one stage in their relationship to another, and the result is a strangely detached, uneven tone
at its best when it’s intimately unencumbered with its own period trappings, this half-effective romance is never less than easy on the eye; "Vita and Virginia" isn't wholly satisfying, but it does have moments of impact
a stranger & more intriguing film than it really has a right to be, one that becomes less about a clandestine courtship between famous women, and more about Woolf's relationship with her writing, and with the workings of her own beautiful, restless mind
