unfortunately, "The Report" is a deafeningly dull movie, loaded with office speech after office speech, one that forgets to excite its relentless two-hour data dump into drama
Scott Z. Burns, who has written several fine screenplays for Steven Soderbergh, clearly knows his way around a complicated geopolitical narrative. "The Report" parcels out its intel efficiently enough, though it creaks a bit more than it crackles
Scott Z. Burns deserves kudos for bringing a story to the big screen that clearly needs to be told, is practically screaming to be said, but the cinematic tools at his ready are often too limited to clarify it beyond the facts
gripping, fiery drama on CIA torture investigation; "The Report" is an angry, urgent film that rarely raises its voice, smartly conveying inhumanity and injustice without unnecessary drama. I found it thrilling

"The Report" is a large-scale saga of corruption, justice, and overwhelming relevance that's at once gripping and eye-opening, even if you're the sort of news junkie who thinks they already know the story
