the film never puts across why these toys, and the world they inhabit, should feel any more special than the hundreds of other playsets lining store shelves
maybe it's fitting "Playmobil: The Movie" is old-fashioned, stiff and only suitable for those between the ages of four and ten, but it sure isn't much fun
it's time for another small-world toy brand, Playmobil, to have a crack at a big screen adventure; helmed by Lino DiSalvo, it's a film predominantly geared towards a very young audience, with insufficient humour to keep accompanying adults entertained
it's safe to say that anyone who has already reached double digits will find little to enjoy in this generic and lifeless promotional tool; It's a tour-de-force of blatant salesmanship that, in narrative terms, comes across as absolute nonsense
