Only The Brave isn't exactly complicated, as far as dramas go, but it's also not trying to be. It's a straightforward celebration of these heroes' lives, with a few meaningful revelations along the way, but nothing that will completely blow your mind
despite the looming threats on display, Kosinski never imbues his movie with a real sense of danger until it's too late to take the threat seriously. For all of the movie's flare, Only the Brave lacks dynamism
"Only the Brave" breaks no fresh ground, but it's a quaint elegy almost exclusively designed to resurrect lives lost, to make the case for why they were worth living. At least on that level, it succeeds
