Jakob's Wife is interested in exploring a human conflict even more ancient than vampirism: man vs woman. It's also hell bent on having a GREAT time while delving into these issues
it's a fun little flick that is maybe a little too concerned with driving home what sets it apart from other films of the subgenre but a welcome addition to horror's growing appreciation for stories with a fresh perspective
a cheap and cheerless vampire movie knock-off; "Jakob's Wife" is a thin, half-hearted reworking of the vampire mythos that can't quite decide if it's spoofy or serious, and doesn't have the smarts to be both
