it's charmingly bizarre and it's a joy to watch Lynskey and Wood at work as well an emerging talent with Blair behind the camera. While it doesn't all come together as well as one would hope, I'm definitely eager to see Blair's next directorial effort
Blair uses essentially the same template to reconfigure the buddy-cop film - at one point, Ruth even flashes a toy police badge - with more deliberately comedic, but similarly enjoyable, results

Blair is careful not to let the story sink into parody - it barely even registers as satire - but he has a great deal of fun anchoring a story like this to two characters who have absolutely no business being around this much blood
