the best thing about the film is the clarity of focus that it exhibits. There's not an ounce of fat on the film. It feels like it moves forward in every single scene
even if you've never read a single Goosebumps book, you can tell how much love the film has for the source material, and how Letterman wanted it to leap off the page, both literally and figuratively
even if the usual dark humor that has come to characterize much of the writing is swapped out for tongue-in-cheek jokes and fast-paced debauchery, the film still serves as an enjoyable, quirky throwback to '90s children's films
