"The Darkest Minds" would have been one of the darkest teen fantasy thrillers ever made; this relatively intense adolescent-focused action movie borrows nearly all its ingredients from other popular sci-fi franchises
"The Darkest Minds" is an uninspired slog of dystopian YA tropes; the worst sort of book adaptation, one in which the filmmakers feel as though there are certain plot elements they're obligated to churn through, without centering on the core of the story
