Young Money Biography

news-detailsYoung Money is a supergroup founded by rapper Lil Wayne who is also CEO of recording company Young Money Entertainment. The band consist of various artists signing a deal with the label. Drake, Nicki Minaj, Mack Maine, Tyga, Jae Millz and Gudda Gudda are some of them with Weezy on the lead.

Starting on July 27, 2009, "Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival" was held with Young Jeezy and Soulja Boy in the line-up in addition to Weezy and Drake. After only five concerts, Drake was forced to withdraw from the gig due to an injury which made him collapse on-stage.

The tour was followed up by the release of the group's debut album "We Are Young Money" few months later. The effort got the help from Hip-Hop artists outside the Young Money Entertainment, such as Birdman, Lloyd and Gucci Mane. It was also supposed to have Omarion lending his vocal, but he was dropped from the project following his exit from the label.

Like its lead single "Every Girl" which managed to round up the Top 10 of Billboard Hot 100, the all-star album also cracked Hot 200, landing at No. 9 with 142,000 copies in its first week of release. The album was originally plotted to be paired up with Weezy's "Rebirth" album as a double-disc set but the plan was scrapped following the several-month delay of the rock-themed album.
