Tracy Morgan Biography

Actor-comedian Tracy Morgan was born on November 10, 1968 in The Bronx, New York City as Tracy Jamal Morgan. He had a rough childhood and faced the death of two people close to his heart; his father Jimmy Morgan, Sr. of AIDS in November 1987 and his best friend who was killed in random violence in his community. Used to seek solace from his tumultuous life by doing humor, Morgan began doing stand-up just as his late friend suggested.

Becoming famous soon thereafter, he performed at Harlem's Apollo Theater and in the Uptown Comedy Club before being recruited to star as Hustle Man in Martin Lawrence's sitcom "Martin" (1994 1996). By the time he departed from the show, he joined the cast of the popular sketch-comedy "Saturday Night Live" and remained in the show for the next seven years. After leaving SNL in 2003, Morgan hosted his own show "The Tracy Morgan Show" which unfortunately was canceled after only one season.

In 2006, he landed a part in NBC television show "30 Rock", which was created by fellow "SNL" cast %cTina Fey%. His character Tracy Jordan, created loosely based on the comedian himself, successfully won him an Emmy nomination for the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In addition to his small screen works, Morgan also starred in some films, such as "A Thin Line Between Love and Hate" (1996), "Bamboozled" (2000), "30 Years to Life" (2001), "Superhero Movie" (2008), "Cop Out" (2010), "Rio" (2011), and "Rio 2" (2014).

Morgan was married to his high school sweetheart Sabina from 1985 to 2009. The estranged couple are parents to three sons; Tracy Jamal Morgan, Jr. (b. 1986), Malcom Morgan (b. 1987), and Gitrid Morgan (b. 1991). In September 2011, he announced his engagement to model %cMegan Wollover% and in July 2013 they welcomed daughter, Maven Sonae Morgan, into the world.
