The Chainsmokers Biography

news-detailsThe Chainsmokers is a DJ duo consisting of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. The group was formed in 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert in New York City. They started out by making remixes of indie bands. In 2012, they collaborated with Indian actress and recording artist Priyanka Chopra on the single "Erase" which was followed by "The Rookie" in early 2013.

However, it's their 2014 hit "#Selfie" that shot them to stardom. The single, which celebrated and skewered 2010s narcissism, was released for free in December 2013 and was picked up by Dim Mak Records which re-released it in January 2014 and eventually streamed it to Republic Records. The track reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Its music video featured cameos from Snoop Dogg and David Hasselhoff, fueling the song's viral popularity.

On August 5, 2014, The Chainsmokers released a follow up to "#Selfie" called "Kanye" featuring sirenXX. They released another single "Let You Go" on March 3, 2015 before signing with their manager Adam Alpert's joint venture label with Sony Music Entertainment, Disruptor Records, in April that year.

Later in October, The Chainsmokers dropped their first EP titled "Bouquet", which included tracks like "New York City", "Until You Were Gone", "Waterbed", "Good Intentions" and "Roses". The latter song has so far reached No. 6 on the Hot 100.

The duo is currently readying their debut album, which is scheduled for release sometime in 2016. The first single off the project, "Don't Let Me Down", arrived on February 5, 2016. It features singer Daya.
