news-detailsCamila Cabello was born on March 3, 1997 to Mexican father and Cuban mother. For most of her early life, her family moved back and forth between Havana and Mexico City, before she moved to Miami, Florida with her mother at the age of six.

Growing up in a Spanish-speaking environment, young Camila fostered her love of music by listening to Celia Cruz and Alejandro Fernandez. Her career in music began when she auditioned for "The X Factor (US)" in 2012. Even though she was eliminated, the judges brought her back along with Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui and Dinah Jane to form a girl group which later was called Fifth Harmony. They signed a joint deal with Syco Music and Epic Records after becoming the third winner on the show.

In July 2013, the group released their debut song entitled "Better Together". Later in the same year, Camila and her group showed that singing was not the only thing that they could do. The group took part in Social Media Initiative, which was sponsored by executive producers of Teen Choice Awards. They promoted social media awareness and protected against the danger of technology misuse.

Camila's personal life was put on the spotlight after Fifth Harmony shot to fame. Camila dated Austin Mahone in 2014 after Fifth Harmony made a guest appearance at Austin's tour. After breaking up with Austin, Camila was rumored to be dating Michael Clifford and Harry Styles.

In February 2015, Camila and her group finally released their debut album "Reflection". Camila had the most time on solos and was the only group member to have a full-fledged solo in all songs from the album.

Camila then started her solo project away from the group by releasing a duet with Shawn Mendes entitled "I Know What You Did Last Summer" in November 2015. The song was so popular that it was certified Platinum in February 2016. Following the success of her first solo project, Camila later collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly and released another hit song "Bad Things". The song was certified multi-platinum.

Having a greater time doing solo projects, Camila decided to depart from Fifth Harmony in December 2016 after the group released their second album "7/27". Shortly after that, Camila unveiled a collaboration with Cashmere Cat entitled "Love Incredible".

In May 2017, Camila announced her first solo album "The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving." Prior to this, she released the lead track off the album entitled "Crying in the Club" in May and a collaboration with Pitbull and J Balvin called "Hey Ma" in January. In October, Camila unveiled a music video for track "Havana" off her album.

"Havana" was a commercial success, topping Billboard's Hot 100 as well as music charts in multiple countries such as Australia, Brazil, Canada and France. It also won numerous awards including Video of the Year, Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Pop/Rock Song at the 2018 American Music Awards. The song was additionally nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

Due to its success, "Havana" became the official lead single of her debut album "Camila", replacing "Crying in the Club". Her self-titled debut album itself was released on January 12, 2018, receiving generally positive reviews from music critics and becoming her first chart-topping album on Billboard 200. With that, she became the youngest artist to top the chart with a debut set since Shawn Mendes' 2015 album "Handwritten". In addition to that, "Camila" received a nomination at the Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Album.

While hitting the road in support of the album, Camila collaborated with Pharrell Williams on a song titled "Sangria Wine" and made a cameo appearance in Maroon 5's music video for "Girls Like You" that was released in May 2018. In that same month, she began performing as the opening act for Taylor Swift's "Reputation Stadium Tour" in between the European leg of her "Never Be the Same Tour". Later in August, she joined forces with Bazzi to release a remix of the latter's song "Beautiful".

Following months of new music absence, on June 21, 2019, Camila released a new collaboration with Shawn entitled "Senorita" along with its music video. The release of the song reignited romance rumors between the collaborators due to their steamy scenes in the visuals. Further adding fuel to the rumors was news of her breaking up from his boyfriend Matthew Hussey. Although Camila has yet to respond to the speculation, she urged her fans to stop bullying Matthew following their split.

The dating rumors aside, "Senorita" gained commercial success. It rocketed to No. 1 on Spotify's Global chart and went on to break record as the biggest single-day debut of a male/female duet ever. On Billboard's Hot 100 chart, it launched at No. 2.
