Casey's got the future on her mind. Some of the legislation she worked on last summer during her internship is making its way through Congress. She drops the G word (Graduation) on Cappie, and immediately regret it. It's the one thing they haven't talked about since they got back together. But they put the convo on hold (much to their relief) as the annual KT turtle races start in the house's backyard. Casey and Ash are having a messy lunch at the ZBZ house. Ashleigh hasn't hired a new hasher since the Fisher fiasco and it shows. The sisters are on her to get a new hasher, stat. She agrees and puts them on the job. Casey tells Ash she wants to go back to Washington. Ashleigh, who's making plans to go into marketing, thinks that's a great idea. But Casey's worried about Cappie. Ash reminds her that it's her life and points her toward Rebecca, who knows all about the political world. Bex thinks Casey's crazy for wanting to go to DC but offers to get her on the right path. Hasher hiring is in full swing, but the girls are more focused on hotness that ability. Before Ash can totally freak out from Fisher flashbacks, Dale swoops in with an application, and she hires him on the spot. Much to her sisters' dismay. Dale whips the house into shape, but the girls aren't keen on finding Psalms in the cereal box. They want some man-candy. But before Ash can fire Dale, he finds out what happened with Fisher and quits. He won't be Ash's love slave! The sister are happy, until his hunky replacement turns out to be a total perv. So then they want Dale again. Ash pleads her case to him, hat in hand, and Dale comes back after making her agree to his conditions. Which are absurd in the best Dale-ish way. Rusty's still the big science man on campus. It seems word's gotten around about the new wunderkind, and the Engineering Dean, Lundquist, wants to meet him. Looks like someone's made the fast track, says his adviser, Dr. Hastings. At the faculty schmooze-fest, Rusty gets off to a rough start with the Dean, but Hastings assures Lundquist they're making real progress. Which is a slight exaggeration. To help things along, Hastings hired an assistant for Rusty: hot nerdy Dana, who's got a chip on her shoulder about the way Rusty blew her off not long ago. Rusty's trying to get along with her (he does like her), but then she discovers a fatal flaw in his work. Looks like his research is more long-team that fast-track -- despite what Hastings is telling everyone. Rusty tries to break the bad news to Hastings just before their major interview with EW (that's Engineering Weekly). But he realizes that Hasting's real motivation is personal, involving revenge on an ex-partner. Rusty walks out on the interview, leaving his adviser furious. Later, a calmer Hastings tells Rusty he lacks drive... but then he gives him a crucial pointer for his project. Rusty figures they aren't through with each other just yet. Back at the lab, he realizes he and Dana may not be through just yet either. Rebecca, true to her word, lands Casey an internship at a local election office. The campaign manager, Joel, used to work for Bex's dad. Her first assignment? Voter registration on Campus. It's a slow start, but she decides to organize a registration party at Dobler's. Joel loves the idea and puts her on it. Cappie thinks it's all great, but when Casey tries to get him talking about the future again, he tells her his plan, which is they'll plan it later. Casey doesn't think that's much of a plan at all. We've never seen the capster look so lost. at Dobler's, Cappie's there to support her, but it's awkward. He can see where this is going. Bex tells Evan about the stich, and he snipes to Cappie that he knew he'd find a way to screw up a good thing. But Casey's dreams die when Joel hits on her. Or at least she thinks that's what he's doing. He's not. Um, oops. she straightens it out with him, but he tells her she's a long, long way from getting a real job in Washington. He suggests law school. Hmm, what a great idea, she thinks. Cappie thinks law school is a great idea too. So much so that, as Casey starts studying for the LSATs, he takes a major step. He actually picks up an application to declare his major. It's blank, but still. Where else would she go to law school but CRU? As Cappie's turtle finally crosses the finish line, the two realize that maybe there really is a future for them together.
