The 'Boom Clap' hitmaker speaks up after Britney shut down reports of her allegedly enlisting the former and Julia Michaels to help write songs for her next album.

AceShowbiz - Charli XCX has finally broken her silence on the rumored Britney Spears collab. In an interview, the "Boom Clap" hitmaker confirmed that she worked on music for a potential new Britney album.

The 31-year-old spoke up about the matter when appearing on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Monday, May 6. "Um, so. Well, yes, but, it leaked to the press," she said. "Britney then did this post where she was like, 'I don't have random people write for me.' "

"I was like, okay, go off! So I don't know that she was part of the process," the English native continued. When host Andy interjected, "Maybe her team was looking for," she said, "Her team was running before they could walk... Britney probably has a load of other projects that she's focusing on. So I did get asked but I don't know if it's like, real."

Andy then pressed on, "Let me ask you this: did you write anything in the hopes of her recording it?" In response, Charli explained, "Of course... I went to Malibu and I wrote. You always write songs hoping Britney's going to record them ... but you know, she didn't record it."

Charli, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, noted that she hoped Britney would record the tracks. "I love her. It would be a dream come true," she raved.

Britney previously shut down reports of her allegedly enlisting Charli and Julia Michaels to help write songs for her next album. Taking to her Instagram page, she declared, "Just so we're clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I'm turning to random people to do a new album ... I will never return to the music industry !!!"

Britney then claimed that she has been ghostwriting for other artists. "When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!!" she revealed in the January 3 post. "For those of you who have read my book, there's loads that you don't know about me ... I've written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I'm a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!!"
