AceShowbiz - Julia Fox reflected on her short-lived romance with Kanye West. In a new interview published on Thursday 25 April, the "Uncut Gems" star shared that their brief relationship left "such a sour taste" in her mouth.
Julia revealed to InStyle that she felt she lost her identity at the time. "Dating that man for a month - one month," she explained. "And that's why I have such a sour taste in my mouth about dating anyone in this sphere. Because I don't ever want to just be known as someone's girlfriend. I know I'm so much more than that."
"And I feel like that happens so much to women in this industry," the mom of one added. "They're only as good as their partner or they can make a whole career off being some guy's partner."
The 34-year-old went on to say that she wanted to "transcend" becoming part of someone else's identity in an attempt to make a name for herself. "…I want to break that mold, and I want to just stand on my own two feet and not need a man to back me," she shared. "I did that for years. I'm good. I have established myself, and I want to keep establishing myself. And maybe one day I'll even be taken seriously."
The model's new claims were the opposite from her previous comments about dating the rapper. Back in March 2022, the "Down the Drain" author said that dating the ex-husband of Kim Kardashian was like "hitting a reset button."
"It was the best thing that could have happened to me," the actress told Entertainment Tonight at "The Batman" premiere in New York City. "It kind of brought a spark back into my life that I had kind of forgotten about."
Julia split from Ye after dating for 6 weeks. According to the actress, she admitted that there "wasn't any" sex in their romance because it "wasn't really about that." She added that the Chicago star dated him only to "get him off Kim's case."
"Like, 'Maybe I can distract him, like, just get him to like me,' " Julia explained at the time. "And I knew if anyone can do it, it's me, because when I set my mind to something, I do it."
