'Joker: Folie a Deux' stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and it serves as a sequel to 2019's 'Joker]', which was also rated R.

AceShowbiz - "Joker: Folie a Deux" has been given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association. According to the MPA's daily ratings bulletin, it has been rated R due to "some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality and brief full nudity."

The news was revealed on Wednesday, April 3. The flick stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga and it serves as a sequel to 2019's "Joker", which was also rated R.

An R classification is fairly rare in the world of comic book movies. In the 33-film Marvel Cinematic Universe, only "Deadpool" and "Deadpool 2" were slapped with it.

The report arrived one day after the movie's verified TikTok account posted a short preview that features the actress' voice as she coaxes Joaquin Phoenix's Joker to do as he pleases. In the preview, she channels a sensual and breathy version of the villainess as she says, "You can do anything you want. You're Joker."

GaGa's seemingly non-accented version of Harley Quinn's voice comes as a bit of a departure from Margot Robbie's take on the character. In the DC Extended Universe's live-action projects, the "Barbie" star has portrayed Harley Quinn with a Brooklyn accent, taking a cue from voice actress Arleen Sorkin who originated the role on "Batman: The Animated Series".

On Tuesday, GaGa and director Todd Phillips also shared a new poster of the upcoming sequel while informing fans when the first trailer of the movie will be released. "The world is a stage. Joker: Folie a Deux trailer coming April 9," so GaGa captioned the artwork that sees her character and Phoenix's Joker dancing.

"Joker: Folie a Deux" is rumored to be a fantastical musical featuring covers of well-known songs. Zazie Beetz returns as Arthur Fleck's former neighbor, with Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung and Harry Lawtey being cast in undisclosed roles. The psychological thriller is set to head into theaters in the U.S. on October 4.
